Sprayers, Rollers and Brushes, Etc.
For people who might think a painting job seems simple, many complex questions are simmering under the surface. You don’t think about some of this until it is actually time to go out and complete the job!
Simply speaking, painting is something that has to be done right to be fully effective. As anyone who is experienced knows, you can get a wide range of results – excellent paint jobs that look fantastic or inferior paint jobs that look sloppy and haphazard. And then there are many results that fall somewhere in the middle of this scale. As someone paying for a paint job, you want the best!
One of the big questions involves what tools to use. Here’s a little bit on this type of question, which you might ask while putting together a painting job.
The Area
The more area you have, the more likely you are to select a sprayer setup where you can quickly and easily apply paint. But don’t skimp on covering nearby surfaces or cleaning up the sprayer, which can be labor-intensive. There’s also some personal protective gear that’s important!
Shape of Painting Areas
The sprayer is also good for surfaces that are not flat. Here, you might have trouble covering them with brushes or rollers. Or, as mentioned, the sprayer might just be something to save time in proper paint application.
More Than One Coat
Experienced painters also know that you have to choose a tool for each of the two coats of paint that make up a typical surface coverage.
It may be beneficial to lay on the first coat with a sprayer, then refine the technique with the second coat using brushes or rollers. It’s up to the various factors that pros (and others) must consider.
Time
How much time do you have to complete the job? That’s another factor in this type of work. You want to ensure the job will be done on time, and that involves choosing the right tools and techniques. It also involves scheduling the work: having reliable people who will do what it takes.
Cost
Some painters may not want to rent a sprayer or get personal protective gear. To them, it might be more beneficial to use a low-tech approach and simply brush paint on or apply it with a roller.
Each of these considerations is critically important in modern painting jobs.
