Brushwork and Teamwork

We’ve talked a lot about professional painting on this blog already. We’ve also talked about what powers our business and our commitment to customer service that makes us one of the go-to painting firms in the Fairfax, VA area.

But sometimes, people might ask: how do you do this? What’s the secret sauce to victory in this profession?

Well, in many senses, it’s teamwork. You have to value the people you work with, and know that they have your back, and that they’re able to collaborate with you well to make your project happen on time and according to the best standards.

Prep and Paint

For example, you have distinct stages of work – prepping and painting.

It’s not hard to imagine what would happen if two different people decide to do two different things in the same space, in a way that doesn’t make sense. You might often end up with somebody trying to hit someone else with a roller bar, (or doing it by accident) or people splashing paint on each other. You laugh, but it can happen. Some of us have seen it – not here, but at other companies, and ultimately vowed to never go work at those places again!

By contrast, our work culture is something to be proud of. We celebrate our professionalism with every job that we do, whether that means supporting each other with the right equipment and gear, or giving kudos for a job well done!

Technique and Result

We also believe that the right technique yields the right result. For that matter, the right tools support that technique the right way. Using the right sized brushes and rollers is part of it, but other aspects of painting jobs also start well before the truck rolls up to the client’s property. Long-term planning, for example, can reduce the overall cost of materials. Obviously, optimized scheduling can lower the cost of labor…

Think about this in another way – let’s say that a team member needs a tool or resource that they don’t personally have, that is going to help them create a better result for the customer. Then somebody else races in like Superman to the rescue. You get a better result, because the teamwork was done while the job was being performed. And if that teamwork didn’t happen, you wouldn’t get that result – you get something not quite as good!

That’s a good way to understand teamwork from the customer’s side. And it’s why we work so hard on every job to create this kind of value and quality.

It’s not just for our people – although they really do like the working environment and how it improves their jobs every day. It’s also for you, the customer.
